Program Overview

SELC offers a PGND program designed to meet the need for internationally educated nurses (IEN) to be competent for nursing licensure and nursing practice positions in Canadian healthcare systems. The program's goal is to provide proper training to IEN to adapt to Canadian Nursing Practice Standards. This program facilitates IEN with extensive acquaintance and skills to meet clients' complex health needs in always progressing practice environments. The IEN's will participate in the assessment, analysis, advancement, application of practice and policy that directs care delivery. At the end of the program, IEN will acquire adequate knowledge about the Canadian Health Care System, the Canadian Nursing professions, licensing requirements, and available education and career pathways.

The program content empowers you with Essentials of Canadian Nursing, critical thinking, clinical judgement decision making; communications Skills; Health and Health disparities across the life span. Students will work on various interactional case studies, examination approaches, clinical decisions on knowledge-based practise, outline cultural awareness and Clinical skills during the program, which will enhance their ability to articulate in various settings as applied within the Canadian health care setting. This program will provide the expertise for success with self-confidence and enable you to work as a competent nurse in Canada.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

English Requirements:

In Lieu of the SELC admissions test, students may submit a test score from one of the following.

Students require ALL of the following:

Applicants must be 19 years of age or older

Proof of citizenship or permanent residency for domestic students or valid student visa for International Students.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Official transcript required)

Resume with 1125 hours OR 5 years nursing work experience

Virtual Interview with the program coordinator or designate to ensure Student comprehension of requirements for licensure in Canada

Note: Students entering with a Diploma in Nursing may not be eligible to write the RN exam but may be eligible to write the LPN (CPNRE) exam. This determination is made by the Nursing Regulatory body for both RN and LPN in Canada and is not part of SELC Career College’s application process.
